nuclear medicine hospital in kerala
Nuclear Medicine Our department of nuclear medicine is committed to improving your health through advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures with the help of our highly sophisticated imaging suite.

Nuclear Medicine

The Nuclear Medicine department at Baby Memorial Hospital has both diagnostic and therapeutic facilities. Nuclear imaging predicts functions of various organs or organ systems of the body unlike all the other Imaging Modalities which provide only structures of the tissues. Since physiological changes precede anatomic changes in most diseases, Nuclear Imaging provides early diagnosis. Nuclear Imaging is also called “Molecular Imaging” since it uses biological molecules to assess the various functions of the body. All Nuclear Medicine procedures are time tested, cost effective and absolutely safe providing greater degree of diagnostic accuracy.

Nuclear medicine involves administration of radioactive isotopes called radio-pharmaceuticals in humans and the bio-distribution of these substances in various systems of the body are mapped by a specialized device called Gamma Camera. This equipment is a hybrid machine which performs routine nuclear scans and also CT Scans whenever required in appropriate patients. With the help of this hybrid imaging, our diagnostic accuracy improves in detecting disorders.

The nuclear medicine imaging procedures are non-invasive and painless. We use SPECT imaging to assure accurate diagnosis of the condition. The department offers paediatric-friendly services so that patients of all ages can comfortably access our services. Hybrid SPECT-CT Dual Head Gamma Camera is used to provide the best imaging results.
