Post Graduate Medical Courses

Post Graduate Medical Courses

1. DNB (Diplomate of National Board) Programme.

DNB (Diplomate of National Board) Programme - 2/3 Year Courses.

Government of India has established National Board of Examinations (NBE) with the prime objective of improving the quality of medical education by establishing high and uniform standards of post graduate examinations in modern medicine on an all India basis.

The qualification awarded by the NBE are equated with the post graduate and post doctorate degrees awarded by other universities for all purposes including appointment to teaching posts as Lecturers/ Asst. Professors by the Government of India, vide their notifications issued from time to time.

The holders of NBE qualification (after completion of DNB programme) are eligible to be considered for specialist post/faculty in any hospital including in a training/teaching institute on a teaching post as a faculty member.

The qualification awarded by the NBE are equated with the post graduate and post doctorate degrees awarded by other universities for all purposes including appointment to teaching posts as Lecturers/ Asst. Professors by the Government of India, vide their notifications issued from time to time.

In 2006, BMH obtained accreditation from the NBE and commenced with the DNB programme. Once the doctors pass the qualifying entrance test conducted by NBE, they are allotted to BMH, where they will pay fees for the course as defined by the NBE and are also entitled to get monthly stipend at par with State Government norms.

The duration of the programme is 3 years for Post MBBS trainees and 2 years for Post Diploma trainees.

2. MEM (Masters in Emergency Medicine).

MEM (Masters in Emergency Medicine) - 3 Years course - 10 seats

The Post Graduate Programmme in Emergency Medicine (PGPEM) consists of a 3 year curriculum, divided into 36 clinical modules that will cover the length and breadth of Emergency Medicine. The Medical Faculty Associates of George Washington University and BMH will collaboratively provide faculty coverage and programme oversight for the post graduate programme. At the successful completion of the programme, the graduating residents will receive an "International Certificate in Masters in Emergency Medicine" issued jointly by the Medical Faculty Associates of the George Washington University and BMH. They will be able to practice independently within Emergency Department as trained physicians.

3. IDCCM (Indian Diploma in Critical Care Medicine).

IDCCM (Indian Diploma in Critical Care Medicine) - 1/2 Year Courses - 2 seats

Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM) offers training programme in accredited institutions across the country. Candidates who complete appropriate training are eligible to appear for an examination. Upon successful completion of the theory and practical examination, candidates are awarded "Indian Diploma in Critical Care Medicine" (IDCCM). BMH being accredited by ISCCM offers the above course, which is a 1 and 2 year courses, i.e. one year for MD/MS/DNB candidates and 2 years for DA/DTCD or equivalent candidates.
