A Case Of Unexplained Dyspnoea

Abstract

Myasthenia gravis is  a neuromuscular disease  caused by circulating antibodies that block  acetylcholine receptors  at the post synaptic neuromuscular junction, characterized by fluctuating muscle weakness and fatigue. Shortness of breath is an uncommon initial presentation of myasthenia gravis. We report a case of undiagnosed myasthenia gravis, where patient initially presented with episodic shortness of breath. This report highlights the need to consider myasthenia gravis in the differential diagnosis of an otherwise unexplained dyspnea.
