According to the action plan of Indian Academy of Paediatrics, Kerala State President, a seminar was conducted at BMH for early detection and early intervention in childhood autism. The state level inauguration of the autism support programme was done by the IAP State president Dr. P. A . Muhammed Kunju, President, IAP, Kerala. Dr K G Alexander, Chairman & MD of BMH delivered the key note address. Dr Shaji Thomas John, Chief – Centre of Excellence in Child Care, BMH gave the presidential address. Dr Beena Johnson, State Chairperson, Autism Support Programme, IAP and Senior Consultant in Child Guidance, BMH, Dr Riaz. I, Secretary IAP Kerala, Dr M. Vijayakumar, HOD, Paediatrics, IMCH, Kozhikode, Dr T. P. Ashraf, Addl. Prof. of Paediatrics, IMCH Kozhikode, Dr Johny Sebastian, Treasurer, IAP, Kerala and Dr Renjith, Secretary IAP Kozhikode also spoke at the inaugural ceremony. Following the inaugural ceremony Dr Beena Johnson conducted a seminar on ‘Early intervention in childhood autism’ for the public.
