Dr. Viswanathan Kavathur has more than 37 years of experience as an ENT surgeon. He took his MBBS, DLO & MS (ENT) from Calicut Medical College. His vast experience includes working in Kerala Health Services as an ENT specialist, Faculty in Medical Education Services of Kerala, and a tenure abroad before retiring from Medical College, Calicut and the Government.

He was then invited to set up the ENT department at DM WIMS Medical College, Wayanad as Associate Professor & HOD. He taught the first 4 batches of undergraduate students and initiated moves to set up post graduate training there in ENT before retiring in May 2021.

He is an experienced and meticulous surgeon, performs all routine ENT procedures including Endoscopic and Micro ear surgeries. While working in government and in the private sector he trained several generations of ENT surgeons and inculcated in them, a systematic and methodical work culture. He enjoyed teaching his undergraduate and postgraduate students.

He regularly updates himself, follows current standards of practices and keeps himself abreast with what is new in his speciality.
