Spine care unit
The treatment of spine disorders at BMH Spine Centre utilises the most modern concepts of both diagnosis and treatment. Patients are evaluated to distinguish those who will benefit most from conservative therapy from those who will require surgery.
If conservative therapy is indicated, the patients treatment is managed through available modalities including medications of various types and combinations to control the pain and inflammation until the body heals itself, minor procedures such as pain stimulators, epidural injections, trigger point injections as well as standard physical therapy.
If surgery is required, the treatment is tailored to the individual patient’s needs by utilising modern diagnostic techniques and innovative surgical technology with the goal of providing effective treatment with the least risk. Surgery is performed by experienced Spine surgeon with qualified support team in dedicated operation theatre for Spine surgeries.
The expert team is supported by a state of the art Radio Diagnosis facility which is equippedwith 64 slice multi-detector CT, 1.5 Tesla MRI, Digital x-rays, etc. Dedicated operation theatre and fully equipped ultra-modern critical care beds are other highlightsof this department.

Dr. Suresh S. Pillai is a popular Spine Surgeon of Kerala. His passionate involvement in the nuances of Orthopedic Surgery prompted him to undertake advanced education in the fields of his special interest – Spine Surgery – undergone in India and abroad. His inexhaustible yearning for delving into unexplored areas of knowledge, constantly keeps alive the inquisitive student within him.His dedication and commitment to the job he does has gained him the reputation of being a popular, trustworthy, and competent Spine Surgeon throughout the state of Kerala. He has successfully performed several rare and complicated Surgeries of the Spine. Moreover he has also made a mark with his commendable contribution to the Medical Tourism, by treating a good number of overseas patients coming from the Middle East, Scandinavian, and African countries.Being aware of the significance of the need for collective endeavors, mutual rapport and give-and-take, in dealing with the national and international Medical problems, he is ever alert in making his active presence felt in various Medical Orthopedic Associations, Organisations and gatherings. The thirst for better knowledge in probing into the intricacies of Spine Probing Surgery, and the management of Spine ailments, has persuaded Dr. Suresh to further his quest for fresh insights into these areas by engaging in ardent research work, which is steadily progressing at its own pace. Dr. Suresh has written books and published various research papers and presentations on human spine. One of his books in English is The Gospel of Spine. Two books, Sandirogangalum Parihara Margangalum and Natellu are written in the local language, Malayalam.
